Volunteer Opportunites

This year there will be 6 Board of Director position available at this year’s AGM. We are looking for members who have interested in being an integral part of the future of the YLPNA as well as the future of LPNs in the Yukon.       

The positions available this year are Vice-President, Secretary, and three Director positions and Student Representative position newly added in 2022. Please see below for the posting for each of the available positions:

Vice-President:

This position is best served by someone who has previous leadership experience and has a strong understanding of the history and challenges facing LPNs in the Yukon. The ideal candidate would be one who is excited and motivated to build off this year’s success and continue to grow the YLPNA as well as be an advocate for the future of the territories LPNs. This person should have communication skills, be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and can utilize “big picture” thinking.

The commitment to this position is 2 years, ending April 2024 and the time commitment on average six hours monthly between board meeting, member meetings, committees, and preparatory work. There may be additional time spent on special events or projects outside of the average monthly commitment.

Secretary:

This position is best served by someone who has strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of the history and challenges facing LPNs in the Yukon. The ideal candidate would be technologically savvy along, be comfortable using social media and have a keen eye for detail. Previous experience with record keeping would be considered an asset.

The commitment to this position is 2 years, ending April 2024 and the time commitment on average six hours monthly between board meeting, member meetings, committees, and preparatory work. There may be additional time spent on special events or projects outside of the average monthly commitment.

Director:

This position is best served by someone with who may have some leadership experience but is looking to further develop their skills. This person should have a general understanding of the history and challenges of LPNs in the Yukon. The ideal candidate for this position is someone is interested in their profession as an LPNs beyond just their employment and is both eager to learn as well as motivated to build their skill set with the thought of becoming an Executive Board member in the future.

The commitment to this position is 1 year, ending April 2023 and the time commitment on average six hours monthly between board meeting, member meetings, committees, and preparatory work. There may be additional time spent on special events or projects outside of the average monthly commitment.

Student Representative:

This position is brand new to the Board of Directors for 2022 and is open to second year LPN students in the Yukon. This is a non-voting position on the Board of Directors
